Wordless Wednesday 24 - Theo

Apparently I have been remiss in acknowledging that I have, on occasion, shared my life with cats as well as dogs. So, here's proof of such: Theo, God rest his precious little soul.

Note: Given Bella's extraordinary prey drive, as well as Jan's cat allergies, it would be foolish and irresponsible for us to adopt a cat at this time. Instead, I live vicariously through my sister who's just this side of 'crazy cat lady'. I'm hoping to share some of her kitty pictures here over time.

  3. Ah, thanks for sharing the picture of Theo - he's gorgeous!

I'd love a Cat too - but Mum says it's enough just having me - doh!!

    Have a fun day,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  8. I don't know what I would do if my hubby had cat allergies (I'm pretty sure that I am part cat!) Theo was a very handsome boy ;)

  13. What a pretty kitty. I was a cat only person for many years before getting Chester. Now I love both but only own dogs to date.

  15. Precious. I too have shared my life with cats, but have not had one for nearly 12 years. I do miss kitty lap snuggles, but my husband is also allergic. I think my dogs would be ok - they are with my Mom's cat, but she is also old and just minds her own business. I'm not sure how they would be with an active cat. So, I too live vicariously through other kitty owners!

  18. You know, Snoopy, we could have cats when I had my Lab but I have to agree with your mom - Bella is enough for us now. ;)

  19. Thanks Nola. (Don't you just love his little pink toenails? :)

  20. Jan's aren't terrible but I feel for anyone who has them.

  21. I think Jan would tolerate them if there was any chance Bella would be able to live nicely with a cat but alas and alack, that's just not a reality here.

  22. Thanks Katherine. He was loved and he knew it. He has his own little story but the life he had "with us" was quite full of joy. (FTR, that's a harness with a leash attached that he's wearing - he got to play and chase bugs in the backyard but was not an outdoor cat.)

  23. Thanks Christine. I wrote a real tribute to him back when we lost him.  Someday I'll publish that here. He was an angel.

  24. Thanks Pup Fan. And quite the little charmer, too. :)

  25. He was beautifully marked but more of a pussy cat than a tiger. ;)

  26. Neither is Bella, GLP. Probably in the best interest of the cats. ;)

  27. I'm glad I posted this - all the closet cat lovers are coming out. ;)

  28. I have lived fewer years without cats than with them.  Our dogs have always been good with them (some remarkably so!) but Bella won't be one of them.  I do miss having one (we lost Theo in 2005 and he was our last).  They definitely fill a different role. This little one used to like to sleep in my arms facing up at me so he could gently touch my face with his paws.  :(

I got to snuggle some of my sister's cats just a few weeks ago so that helps...

  29. Jan could actually survive with something like Benadryl but Bella would likely be a serious problem. I do miss having them though.

  30. Sorry Deccy - I'm not letting you near my cats, you little scoundrel. ;)

  31. "Just this side of crazy cat lady"? Umm...Thanks?  I don't mind being called that.  All of our cats have come from a shelter, so it's good.  I do have to remind myself not to look at our local shelter FB page.  The temptation is too great.

Glad Jessie found your lap when you were here.  I'm waiting for the time you can spend more time, maybe you'll get to pet Skittles. Maybe.

  32. Hey - I said "this side"! ;)  (It's okay, around here that's a compliment and I knew you'd take it as such as well.)

I got a cuddle out of the teeny black one, too - not sure who's who over there but I did get my snuggle on with 2 of them. It was heaven. (I want a picture of the tiny black one's face - those white whiskers are to die for!)

  33. That's Midget. She's full grown- must have been the runt of the litter.  I will e-mail you a picture.

  34. Theo was such a handsome boy. I love those markings.

Honey appears to really like the occasional dog-friendly cat in the neighborhood. I sometimes wonder if she'd like a kitty friend of her own.

  35. Thanks Pamela. Theo was quite unnerved by my cat-friendly Lab when he first came to join us but Beau was soooooooooo good with cats, he even won Theo over eventually. (I have a video that will blow minds coming someday.)

If Honey shows (gentle) interest in a cat and you like them yourself, I wouldn't hesitate to bring one into your family.  Not sure how your all your fosters would handle it though. ?

  36. You already know how I feel about cats. :)

I bet it felt good to put Theo out here for everyone to admire. What a handsome boy! And I'm glad you have your borderline cat-crazy sister's cats to feed your soul. :)

  37. It was good. Theo was the last of my little boys (I've had 3 cats of my own - all boys) and he was probably the sweetest of them all. We didn't have him long and losing him was tragic but the time he spent with us was worth every heartbreaking second afterwards.
