Notes from Home - 8.22.2008

One of the reasons we were able to adopt such a young dog (still a puppy really) was the fact that Jan could be home with her after a heart-attack and subsequent bypass surgery sent him in to early semi-retirement.

I confess to being a little jealous that he got to spend his days with her while I trudged off to the office so he offered up little notes throughout the day to fill me in on things and all of Bella's antics. It didn't take long for me to realize I had the easy part of this dog-raising equation.

I envision these brief little interludes being an on-going feature of the blog. I hope you enjoy his reflections on "Bringing up Bella" as much as I do.

August 22, 2008:

Remember how you said that Bella couldn't get up on our bed by herself?

You were wrong.

  1. Thank you. I was hoping his sense of humor would come through. :)

(BTW - I'm still working out some bugs with the new commenting system - will try to have the avatars working soon.)

  2. Grumble grumble - it's me, Leslie debugging. Like I don't do enough of this during the day!

  3. This is very sweet! How nice to have an archive of your puppy's upbringing and from both of your points of view makes it even more special.
I wish I had stuff to reminisce over Elmo and Mitzi's younger days! Most of the puppy photos are trapped on an old pc hardrive that crashed but I can still see some of them
that I posted to their dogster pages :)

  4. Thanks Rebecca. The whole reason I decided to do this blog thing was because, after losing Beau, I realized his 'stories' were fading from my memory and I wished I had them written down. I figured even if no one but Jan and I ever read this, it would serve as a history of our time with Bella.

I'm so sorry your photos are trapped. I don't know the cost but there are places that can get data off crashed hard-drives if you ever want to try and retrieve them. I hope someday you'll be able to salvage them.
