Save a Sato Reunion 2009

In my last post, I mentioned the Sato Reunion we attended back in 2009. What a fabulous idea and I wish everyone whoever adopted a dog or cat had the opportunity to meet their pet's rescuer. It just made it so real to me and it was shortly after meeting Nilsa that I made the decision to get more involved with rescue as a sort of "pay it forward" gesture in her honor.

But the day wasn't all mush and sentiment - it was also a boatload of fun. There was a musician playing Puerto Rico- and dog-themed music (Pup Fan of I Still Want More Puppies would have loved his musical modifications to tilt every song dog-wards). There were a variety of contests from best cuddler to waggiest-tail, fund-raising raffles and a grill station serving up everything from plain old hot dogs to Puerto Rican sausages. And of course, there were plenty of vendors on hand to demo their pupper-wares (tons of treats were tossed to tempted tummies!)

Wicked Local covered the event. Check out their great photo gallery.

In the meantime, here are a few of pictures from the event:

There's nothing cuter than a girl and her (very patient) dog.

They say everyone has a doppelganger.

Check out the pup in the back. I want to know what he sees that I don't.

Just another lovely little Sato.

Being this cute is hard work.

Winner of the "Best Kissy-face" contest.

Bella played with this darling dog for a good while.

That's one sleepy puppy.

Be sure to come back Wednesday for pictures of Bella's rather unique approach to dealing with the heat and festivities of the day.

  1. It sure looks like it was quite the event! That one dogs face is hilarious! I think he sees his shadow.  :)

  2. Oh don't you just love it? So hard not to come home with another dog though! I see Bella can be trusted not to eat the seatbelts! x

  3. That's such an awesome idea of yours, the "pay it forward"...this must have been an amazing gathering to attend!  Poor baby sure is pooped!

  4. Wow, I see a lot of paw friends out there, I'm sure that you really enjoy that event with them.

    What an event!

  7. What a pawsome idea!  We know our rescuers and we are always grateful to them for reaching out to us.

  8. It feels so weird that I distinctly remember commenting on this post yet not find any. I think I'm having too much in my mind.

I agree! It is a great idea. Aside from reaching out to the community, it further promotes adoption.

    Huggies and Cheese,

  9. How great that the event was fun - AND inspired you to get more involved with rescue. Can't beat that!

I wonder what that dog was looking at too. Looks like Bella had a great day!

  11. Oh Bella,

Not surprised you were so sleepy!!  What a fab day you had!! Yay :)

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  12. Hi Bella! It's UK Bella here. I can't believe my nose ... that second picture really looks like an Entlebucher ... Wow! That does look like a great day and I agree, what a BRILLIANT idea. So many people who rescue dogs must wonder what happened to them. Sniff you soon!

  13. Wow, that looks like a terrific time. It's fantastic they put together reunion events like this one. Not everyone gets a chance to meet their dog's rescuer so it's lovely you and Bella have had the opportunity. What a special moment to celebrate!

  14. Songs with dog lyrics? I'm sold. :)

Now you're totally going to have to share some of them though.

Rooo Bella - that doppelganger of yours kind of look like me! I wonder if he/she might be an Entlebucher like my little Sis Bella suggested in one of hte comments above? *waggy tail*

  16. This is such a great idea! More rescues should do this :)
